Success!!

Our first attempt at homemade baby food was peas...
this was Elli's reaction.
(Please excuse the runny nose, we're teething at the moment!!)
She wasn't a fan, obviously!
So then we tried sweet potato's...mommy's favorite!!
Just puree' the cooked potato's in the blender,
**Yes, that's a food processor in the above pic, but it didn't work so we moved to the blender...I'm ever-so-adaptable :)**
and you'll end up w/ some yummy goodness :)
Chris fed her one night...
and my dad fed her another...SUCCESS!!
I store the extra food in ice cube trays,
and I just get two per day out to thaw for dinner :)
So simple, so good, and so healthy for my sweet baby girl.
Next up: Zucchini!!
I gotta admit, I'm not all that confident that we'll get another happy reaction!!

I'm thinking about trying the homemade baby food with James...of course we have a LONG time until that happens, but let me know how it works in the meantime.

Jenn ~ Yeah they do!!

Adriane ~ I highly suggest "Cooking for Baby". It talks about what babies need nutritionally, and then has some great recipes for all the different stages. Of course, the first few months are pretty easy...but it also has stuff for older kids as well. It's super easy, and much cheaper than regular baby food! I'll keep ya updated on how it goes :)

Good for you, Amy. I didn't realize you could freeze baby food. I might try this with the next one. Sweeet potatoes and peas were Emily's favorite besides the fruit. They always LOVE the fruit.

A friend of mine did this in England. To save time on having to do two meals all the time, she would just make a little extra. So if one night you were having steaks, salad and sweet potato, throw and extra one in the oven baby and puree it while the steaks are on the grill, and then freeze what you don't need. She also would combine it with breast milk so it wasn't so thick.
